Don’t Fade Away: Does Color Extending Shampoo really work and why do I need to use it? Color Extend Shampoos protect hair to extend the life and vibrancy of haircolor. Make sure the product you use is formulated with Anti-Fade properties as well as UV filters. UV filters help lock in color and lock out radicals from the environment (radicals are things like mineral-rich water, frequent washing with harsh shampoo, chorine and environmental pollutants). Color-treated hair is vulnerable and damage can cause color fade, and hair to be dry, and look dull. Exposure to damaging UV rays also contributes to color fading and damaged hair shafts. Dry, damaged, porous hair can resist color, creating uneven results and a very dissatisfying color experience.
