July 4th Wedding Celebration – Mesick nd Bear Lake, Michigan

Fireworks! One word that best describes the love these two have for each other. Brandon and Kristen were originally scheduled to be married the 27th of September, but after a lot of thought they called me up and moved it to the Forth of July.

We traveled north to Mesick for a lake side wedding that was simple yet elegant. The wedding party was a group of friends who all knew each other well since their early school days. This made for a very comfortable group that was fun and entertaining to say the least.

After the wedding we took all the formals and made our way to a suspended bridge over the Manistee River. I braved the crayfish infested waters to take some great shots of the wedding party and even risked falling off the bridge to capture a couple other unique angles.

Lake Michigan near Bear Lake was our next stop. Our plan from the beginning was to use the couple of hours we had between the wedding and reception to relax and have fun at the beach so it was no surprise to the wedding party that they were going to “Trash their dresses” as well as Brandon and Kristen. The beach was adventurous, and I love using professional lighting 20 feet from shore. The images were awesome and I didn’t even drop my camera in the lake.

After the lake, we brushed the sand off changed back into our wedding clothes. ( I wanted to wear my swim trunks to the reception, but Emily told me I couldn’t). At Kristen’s parents place a tent served as our shade from the sun. Guest were fed by the most amazing pig from Charlie & Kathie Schoedal. Emotionally Impaired rocked the barn with their Band and DJ services.

The barn was set up for all the guests to enjoy. A balcony served us well to throw the bouquet and garter. While inside made a great place for Beer Pong. This is the first wedding that had an official Beer Pong table. I guess that’s what they learned most from going the Michigan State University…. Just kidding.

When we left shortly after 10, beer pong was in full force, most people were finished setting up their tents, and sweet shirts were the formal attire for the cool July night.

Thanks again to Brandon and Kristen for allowing me the honor of photographing such a fun event.
