Trash the Dress – Lawn Mower vs Wedding Dress
(Warning these are not your mothers wedding photos)

Aimee and Adam were married just weeks ago. During the wedding the topic of trash the dress came up and for once I stayed out of it. So many times brides get up to the point of doing the session only to back out. So when Aimee contacted me just days after the wedding requesting the session I was excited to be able to offer her and Adam something special. They gave me an open canvas to create something incredible. I asked my friends on Facebook what we should do and the idea of tying Aimee up and having Adam rescue her. Congratulations Jessica for the creative idea. Jessica won a $100 Gift Card.

Trash the Dress Portraits – Fair + Animals + River

Warning…. No farm animals were killed in the creation of these images. I almost forgot to post this Trash the Dress session. Amanda & Chris were married on June 27th, 2009. They decided to have a little fun when it came to Trash the dress. Being from a small town in the country, the county fair seemed like a perfect fit. The Kent County Youth fair played host to our photography session. Between the barns, the rides, and the midway a layer of dust started to build on the dress. Luckily for Amanda & Chris we have a river behind the studio for them to wash the dust off. Amanda did amazing in the cold water and played the part well.
Every trash the dress session is unique and personalized for the bride and groom. You also don’t have to have your wedding photographed by Modern Photographed to have your trash the dress session.

There seems to be confusion concerning Copyright Law and Photographs. I figured I’d attempt to clear it up.
If you want to read all the ‘technical stuff’ about Copyright Law go here. But I’ll spare you the technical words and confusion and give you a synopsis of what Copyright means to us.
On the back of every picture we print is a sticker like the one above. If you were to take this picture to a local printer (Meijer, Walgreens, WalMart, etc.) they would not make re-prints for you.
Unfortunately, with the development of high quality Scanners and Photo Quality Printers, a professionally created and copyrighted image has never been easier to copy in the comfort of your own home. We have to trust that our clients understand the Copyright Law and that they will not copy our prints anywhere.
What exactly do you mean when you say Copying? (glad you asked) Copying means reproducing the work in any material form. This can include storing on disks or making copies. It is not necessary for the whole of a work to be reproduced – the reproduction of a substantial part will suffice. Purchasing a print does not transfer the Copyright.
Basically, all this means that any photography by Modern Photographics is protected from copying, scanning or reproduction under the Federal Copyright Act of 1976.
We usually find out when a copy has been made, either online (facebook, myspace, blogger, etc) or in print, and we handle each copyright infringement as we see necessary.
I hope I was able to clear that up.
But, just in case:
Copyright
All
Modern Photographics© images are copyrighted work and may not be reproduced or copied in any manner without permission from the artist. Please don’t steal any images from us.
I meet with many Couples that are planning their wedding. Every once in a while I get the question: Do you have any references?
How do I give her names without asking my couples first, so I asked. Here is what you had to say:
Leah and Seth H.
First and foremost, I would refer you to friends because of your personality. You are very easy to get along with and very easy going. I think that is something of comfort for a bride on such a stressful day. You work is fantastic and you are up for suggestions in regards to places to go and different shots to take. I think that is great because it allows the bride and groom to make some of their own decisions and not have their photographer ordering them around.
Brandon and Kala H.
Why would the bride choose to wear white? Because it’s a natural decision. It is one that is easy to make, and it just comes natural. Having Modern Photographics take our wedding day pictures was just that, it was a natural decision. One that came easy, didn’t take thought, and it was a decision we were both comfortable with. All of those feelings came back to us on our wedding day. Natural, easy, comfort. Those were the feelings we felt when we were having our pictures taken. Both Brandon and Emily put us at ease when standing behind the camera, taking our pictures. We weren’t nervous, we were excited. We enjoyed our day, and our choice of photographer was a HUGE part of it.
We sincerely appreciate all that Brandon and Emily did for us before our wedding, the day of, and afterwards. We highly recommend Modern Photographics to any engaged couple, in search of the “perfect” photographer to capture all of the moments for their “perfect” day. They will take care of you, the way you want to be taken care of.
Elizabeth and Ted S.
We were very pleased with our pictures and our experience thus far with your company and would be happy to tell other people that.
Kristen and Jeremiah C.
I would refer you to my friends because your services are outstanding. I felt that you personally cared about my wedding day and that Brandon and Emily made it your job that day to not only take awesome pictures but to keep everything running smoothly. You are wonderful people and fantastic photographers! People who attended our wedding even felt that you both were very kind and were easy to work with. I always felt that you had our best interest at heart and still feel that we got an incredible deal and service. We get a TON of compliments on our photos and album. Honestly, the best money spent was with you!
Wow, those where just a few of the many. Thank you so much. I really appreciate the help. I was able to pass those on the the Couple that was asking.
What is Trash the Dress? Many of our clients have grasp the idea but, it means different things to each. Back in August we went back to the beach with Joel and Danielle and had a great time in the water. This weekend we had the chance to photograph Todd and Leslie. Their wedding took place June, and everything turned out beautiful. Their idea of Trash the Dress was to get dressed up and hit the city they call home.
It turned out to be a great weekend. We spent about 4 hours with Todd and Leslie, starting at the beach and ending up on the south side of Chicago. We had so much fun and the photos will hopefully capture just how cool Chicago is. Here is a sneak peak of my favorite image.
If you didn’t check out their wedding images here is a link.
