2009 ALREADY?!?!?!?

It’s hard to believe that the year is so close to being over. Where did it go and can anyone really remember what their footprints were? Everything went so fast and there was hardly a breath in between the next big steps. What was accomplished over the past year, where did we go, what did we do?

Our family would like to start the year 2009 by making a difference. As part of the leadership team of Hands of Grace, a non-profit organization that provides avenues of change within impoverished communities through the local church, we have the opportunity to go to the Dominican Republic in January.

It all started like this . . . .

A few years ago when Brandon was in high school he had the opportunity to go on a summer mission trip to the Dominican Republic with DeAnn Eddy (a youth leader) and other teens to a village called Jacagua. While there, he and a small crew dug by hand, mixed cement, and poured the foundation for the existing school’s chapel.

In November, Brandon and DeAnn had time for a casual lunch together, unknowing to them, God had a larger plan in mind.

During their lunch, DeAnn brought Brandon up to date on the Dominican Republic, specifically with the School that Brandon helped build. For the past many years, the children and the school have been sponsored by Compassion International. In January 2009 Compassion International is shifting their focus and cutting all funding to this project.

During their lunch DeAnn introduced Brandon to Hands of Grace, a new non-profit organization that is being started to pick up where Compassion International is leaving off. Hands of Grace will sponsor the children to be able to go to a Christian school, get one meal a day, as well as medical and dental care for $32 a month.  The ministry will also offer micro-finance loans to the entrepreneurial poor.

Lately, we have been looking for a ministry to invest our lives in a significant way.  We feel that God has led us to Hands of Grace.

From the casual lunch, we have since been accepted onto the Hands of Grace leadership team.  In January, Hands of Grace is planning a Mission Trip to the Dominican Republic. We have been asked to go with the team and help get things started.

Brandon will be assigned as the technical guy (Photographing and documenting the children) and Emily will be the detail gal (documenting correct names and locations as well as getting all appropriate releases signed.)  We would like Lily to be our student liaison forging relationships with students in the Dominican Republic and partnering them with children at Impact Church in Lowell (where we attend).

This trip provides an opportunity to better meet the needs of the Jacagua community. More than anything, we would value your prayers for our team and those whose lives will be touched by God through us. We believe that God answers prayers, and are asking you to pray for our families safety, good health, smooth travel, and that we would all have enough financial support. Just knowing that you will be praying will give us peace as we go into a foreign country.

Beyond your prayers we would ask you to consider partnering with us by sending a financial gift for the ministry trip. We will need to raise just over $3,000 to cover the total cost for our family for this trip. If you feel led to donate to our trip you can make checks payable to Imagine This, LLC and send to Imagine This, LLC, 227 S. Bridge St., Grand Ledge, MI 48837. Please enclose a note that the check is for The Mulnix Family and Hands of Grace mission trip.

As this year closes, will you consider making a year-end donation to Hands of Grace, help us help these children and families.
God Bless you and yours in 2009!
Happy New Year!
Brandon, Emily and Lily Mulnix, and Modern Photographics.

The Hanger is a cool unique clothing boutique here in Lowell.  All of their clothes are uber chic and the latest style.  It’s definitely a nice atmosphere, as Kristina, the owner, is extremely nice and helpful to all her customers.
